The CTA is the only Spanish organisation taking part in the European Superbio project which is funded by the EU H2020 programme. The aim of the project, which has a budget of €3.35 million over a 30 month period, is to promote and stimulate the European bioeconomy sector, an emerging biotechnology based area of industry which uses renewable organic matter (biomass) as a more sustainable and cleaner alternative to the current fossil fuel-dependent economy. The project, led by the Belgian public-private partnership, Ghent Bio-Economy Valley (GBEV), involved a total of 10 partners from 6 European countries. The CTA represented Spain and there were SMEs and other bodies from Belgium (BBEPP and Biotechs), Poland (PTPB), France (TWB), the United Kingdom (NNFCC and GJE) and Germany (NOVA and BCNP). The project aims to consolidate at least 10 new multi-sector and multinational European bio-economy value chains and assist at least 30 SMEs which are not actually project partners by providing support services for innovation valued at €1.8M.
CTA is one of the 8 European partners of Tr@nsener project (Interreg-Sudoe), which, with a budget of 1.8 M €, aims to increase the innovation potential of European regions in the field of electricity technologies and to improve the efficiency of electrical systems.
The project is led by the French university Toulouse III Paul Sabatier and has a total of 8 partners from France, Spain and Portugal. In addition to CTA, there are 3 other Spanish partners: the Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Funseam), the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Center for the Research of Energy Resources and Consumption (CIRCE). The aim of the project (36 months) is to generate synergies between companies, laboratories and technological infrastructures at the service of companies from the three countries, in order to create innovations in the field of energy efficiency.
The CTA represents Andalusia in this European project which is led by Zabala Innovation Consulting. It is aimed at designing a roadmap for the Photovoltaic industry whilst proposing policy measures which can enable Europe to become a leader in this field of technology, thereby increasing competitiveness, and generating growth and job creation in the region. In order to achieve this objective the aim is to create a powerful and extensive network including key European regional players in the sector, both from the demand side (120 industries) and the supply side (60 universities/research centres). It also involves adopting various regulatory procedures (involving 6 regional public authorities) in order to establish and reinforce a series of common policy measures.
The project, which was inaugurated at the beginning of 2013, with a budget of €157,600 and a completion time of a year and half, is focusing on three priority regions where the proposed policies and measures will be implemented: Andalusia; Rhone-Alps and Thuringia; and Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. Apart from the project leader Zabala, and the CTA, which is representing Andalusia, the other participants are France’s Atomic and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA) and the Austrian consulting company Project Kompetenz.
The CTA is participating as a member of a consortium which is developing the European AGRI2 ICT project (Information and Communication Technology and Robotics for Sustainable Agriculture). The project aims to contribute to the development of an eco-efficient, sustainable and competitive form of agricultural production by promoting and improving the use of ICT and robotic systems. The consortium is composed of European management bodies and promoters of funding for R&D programmes.
