The European TRACK project has <\/span>been completed<\/span> after involving nearly 400 European SMEs to promote the digitisation of the agri-food sector. <\/span>This project aimed<\/span> <\/span>to promote the <\/span>application of big data and improve the traceability of agri-food sector<\/span><\/strong>, especially in <\/span>the <\/span>production field<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

TRACK was a collaboration between Vegepolys Valley<\/a><\/span> (France, coordinator), Greenport West-Holland (The Netherlands), Technological Corporation of Andalusia<\/span> – CTA<\/span> (Spain), <\/span>AgroTransilvania<\/span> Cluster (Romania) and Emilia-Romagna Regional <\/span>Agrifood<\/span> <\/span>Clust<\/span>-ER (Italy).<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

F<\/span><\/strong>unded by the European Union’s COSME <\/span><\/strong>program<\/span><\/strong>me<\/span><\/strong>, TRACK<\/span> focused on supporting ICT providers to improve their approaches and offer to agri<\/span>–<\/span>food sector.<\/span> <\/span>SMEs received counseling, there were publicly accessible webinars about digitization on a regular basis (<\/span>still <\/span>available <\/span>on<\/span> <\/span>trackgrowingdata.eu<\/span><\/a>) and <\/span>individual<\/span> meetings<\/span>. <\/span>TRACK also gave SMEs the chance to pitch at the trade fair SIVAL and remotely at Fruit Attraction <\/span>LiveConnect<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

How can European policy further support the agri-food digitisation?<\/h3>\n

TRACK project has organized <\/span>three online events<\/span> that<\/span> took place on September 24<\/span>th<\/span>, October 8<\/span>th<\/span> and October 26<\/span>th<\/span>. The events were organized with two other European projects: Connsensys<\/a> <\/span>(about living labs in the food industry) and Digiclusters<\/a> <\/span>(cluster collaboration in industrial modernization of agr<\/span>i<\/span>-food packaging). <\/span>The final event had 72 attendees from all over Europe.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The focus during the closing events was on the next <\/span>question<\/span>: <\/span>H<\/span>ow can European policy further support the agri<\/span>–<\/span>food <\/span>digitisation<\/span>? An important conclusion in this respect was the need for customisation and <\/span>tailor-made<\/span> activities. The agricultural sector is difficult to compare with other sectors. For example, <\/span>it<\/span> work<\/span>s<\/span> with a fresh product and food safety is a<\/span> priority<\/span>. If the European Union wants to help agricultural entrepreneurs with digitisation, policy will therefore have to be geared to the specific circumstances in this sector.<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The TRACK consortium will prepare in November a document with recommended policies and lessons learned from project experiences<\/strong> to stimulate innovation aimed at improving the efficiency and traceability of the plant food chain.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

TRACK <\/span>interclustering<\/span> project members will stay connected and stay tuned with the field, via <\/span>https:\/\/www.traceabilityandbigdata.eu\/projects\/trackgrowingdata<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

TRACK Coaching programme<\/h3>\n

The European TRACK project <\/span>carried out the<\/span> Coaching Programme<\/span>, led by <\/span>CTA<\/span>. This programme <\/span>supported<\/span> 9 European ICT SMEs that were selected in <\/span>an open <\/span>call.<\/span><\/p>\n

These SMEs were Sinapssia (Spain), Sis-ter (Italy), Zuffellato (Italy), Centric IT (Romania), Landfiles (France), Agrithermic (France), Nutrasing (Spain), Sixphere (Spain) and Symbia Solutions (Spain). The 9 companies received support from the TRACK Consortium experts regarding their commercial and technology strategy to the agri-food market. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> TRACK experts held individual meeting<\/span>s<\/span> with each SME in order to detect the gaps between the companies\u2019 capacities and their commercial purpose in the agri-food sector. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In para<\/span>llel<\/span>, <\/span>CTA<\/span> <\/span>organised<\/span> the first <\/span>project <\/span>webinar with recommendations and actions that the SMEs should do <\/span>to <\/span>aproach<\/span> the agri-food sector. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Finally<\/span>, t<\/span>he <\/span>TRACK <\/span>International Mentoring <\/span>programme, led by <\/span>AgroTransilvania<\/span> Cluster and supervised by <\/span>CTA<\/span> supported t<\/span>he 9 SMEs to <\/span>internationalise<\/span> their agri-food business plans. <\/span>According with<\/span> the maturity <\/span>the <\/span>business plan and the specific needs of each <\/span>SMEs<\/span>, the Consortium mentors <\/span>supported<\/span> for:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

  • Identification of networks portfolio.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n
  • International markets prospective.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Preparation of investors round.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Preparation of B2B agenda with potential clients.<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n
