The EuropeanBATMASS project, in which CTA is participating and leading the communication activities, will be present at the sixth edition of Battery Innovation Days (BID), to be held on 11 and 12 November 2026 in Stockholm (Sweden) and also online.
BATMASS will have its own stand at this flagship event for the European battery ecosystem, where it will showcase its progress towards fostering a more circular, sustainable and resilient value chain in Europe.
Jointly organised by BEPA, Battery 2030+ and the battery IPCEI initiatives, Battery Innovation Days brings together researchers, industry representatives, policy-makers and innovators from across the value chain to exchange knowledge, explore emerging technologies and address the future of the European battery ecosystem.
For BATMASS, this new participation represents an opportunity to showcase the progress made towards creating the EU’s first Circular Battery Valley (CBV), linking innovation, industry and investment to promote the roll-out of circular solutions across different European regions.
Visitors to the stand will be able to learn about the project’s four large-scale demonstrators, which focus on advanced reverse logistics for end-of-life batteries, second-life applications, the recovery of valuable raw materials from black mass, and the production of new battery materials using recycled resources.
As a new development, CTA will use its presence at Battery Innovation Days 2026 to also present the S3 Advanced Materials for Batteries Partnership (S3 AMBP), a European smart specialisation platform co-led by CTA, which aims to foster interregional cooperation and strengthen the value chain for advanced battery materials and sustainable storage solutions.
The joint presence of BATMASS and S3 AMBP will showcase two complementary initiatives that contribute, from different perspectives, to strengthening collaboration between regions, industry, research and innovation across the European battery value chain.
The 2026 edition will address some of the key challenges currently facing the sector, such as advanced materials, raw materials and recycling, industrial scaling and gigafactories, stationary energy storage, heavy-duty transport and Europe’s strategic resilience.
Battery Innovation Days 2026 will thus offer two days of knowledge-sharing, networking and collaboration amongst the key players in the European battery ecosystem, as well as an opportunity to learn about the progress made by BATMASS and the activities of the S3 Advanced Materials for Batteries Partnership.
