Support for University-Business transfer
IAMAT and CTA hold a series of 5 events with companies to transfer Mathematics to various productive sectors
Smart agriculture, smart cities, predictive maintenance, biotechnology-health and digital twins are some of the sectors that can benefit from the application of research results in Mathematics.
Tepro, AGQ, Cajamar, Endesa, Emasesa, Wellness TechGroup, Cepsa, Rovi, Biomedal, MP and Ghenova are some of the companies that will participate in the events.

The IAMAT (Andalusian Institute of Mathematics) and CTA (Technological Corporation of Andalusia) will hold between May and June a series of 5 events with more than 12 companies to promote the transfer and application of results from 25 mathematics research groups from 6 Andalusian universities to different productive sectors.

“The aim of this cycle is to add value to the business fabric and support innovation,” stressed IAMAT Technology Transfer Service Coordinator Tomás Chacón, who highlighted that, according to a recent study by AFI and IAMAT, “mathematics-intensive activities and their indirect and induced effects generated 16.2% of the total GVA of the Andalusian economy in 2019.”

Tepro, AGQ, Cajamar, Endesa, Emasesa, Wellness TechGroup, Cepsa, Rovi, Biomedal, MP and Ghenova are some of the companies that will participate in this cycle of events that starts tomorrow, May 7, and will end in June.

Smart agriculture, Smart cities, predictive maintenance in industry, biotechnology and health and digital twins are some of the sectors that can benefit from the application of research results in Mathematics.

The research areas in which the groups involved work are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Optimization, Algebra and Cryptography, Image Analysis, Mathematical Modeling using Differential Equations and Transport Problems.

IAMAT integrates 230 researchers from 25 research groups from 6 Andalusian public universities: Almeria (UAL), Cadiz (UCA), Granada (UGR), Malaga (UMA), Seville (US) and Pablo de Olavide (UPO).

A total of 230 researchers from 25 research groups from 6 Andalusian universities participate in this dissemination and transfer plan.

A plan to transfer mathematics to the productive fabric

This series of events with companies is part of a comprehensive IAMAT transfer plan designed and implemented by CTA with the aim of improving relations with the business sector of Andalusian university research teams working in the field of mathematics to optimize the transfer and use of their research results.

The transfer plan developed by CTA for IAMAT includes a diagnosis of the capabilities of the Mathematics research groups, the development of a series of commercial and dissemination materials, promotion of relations with companies through events such as the cycle described above and a series of actions to promote collaboration between different groups from different universities to jointly respond to the needs of companies, which strengthens their capabilities.
