BBioNets brings together its partners in Seville to advance the European bioeconomy
  • CTA and TEPRO, as partners and representatives of the Andalusian region, organize the fourth plenary meeting of this European project.
  • The agenda included a technical visit to EMASESA’s Copero Environmental Complex.

On February 3–4, 2026, the consortium of the European project BBioNets, an initiative funded by the Horizon Europe program, held its fourth plenary meeting in Seville, organized by the Andalusian Technology Corporation (CTA) and Tepro Consultores Agrícolas (TEPRO), partners and representatives from the Andalusian region. The meeting marked the project’s entry into its final phase, with completion expected in October 2026, and reinforced Andalusia’s role in advancing the European bioeconomy.

The objective of BBioNets is to establish a thematic network to promote and advance the work carried out by the EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (OGs) regarding the management and/or processing of agricultural and forestry biomass using Bio-Based Technologies. During the meeting held at CTA’s headquarters in Seville, the partners analyzed the impact of the project’s six Regional Forest and Agricultural Networks (FANs), located in Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, and the Czech Republic. They also reviewed the progress of the meetings held between the different regions, the completion of educational materials, and the development of the final knowledge transfer activities.

On the first day of the meeting, the session included a technical visit to EMASESA’s Copero Environmental Complex, which provided insight into biological treatment processes, energy recovery from agri-food waste through cogeneration, and thermal hydrolysis of sludge. Observing the final stages of composting offered a practical example of reintegrating organic waste into the agricultural sector, in line with BBioNets’ objectives.

The second day focused on the long-term impact and visibility of the project’s results. Dissemination, communication, and collaboration strategies were reviewed, as well as the exploitation routes for the main outcomes to ensure their sustainability beyond the project’s conclusion. In addition, the organization of national policy events and the planning of the upcoming European policy event, scheduled to take place in Brussels in May and co-organized with six other European projects, were discussed.

The meeting concluded with updates on the BBioNets digital platform and the latest management aspects, reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to maximize the project’s impact until its completion.
