Carlos García Delgado, Technical Manager for the Building and Civil Engineering Sector at CTA, together with Khalid Fahd Draissi and Juan Ramón Pride Bocardo, senior researchers at the Andalusian Environmental and Water Agency (AMAYA), an entity under the Regional Government of Andalusia, has produced the Strategic Report on the Long-Term Deployment of Nature-Based Solutions within the framework of the European SOLLAGUA research project.

The publication provides an in-depth analysis of the potential and challenges associated with the long-term deployment of nature-based solutions (NBS) for the treatment and reuse of wastewater in rural environments, with a particular focus on Spain, France and Portugal.
The document aims to identify the main barriers hindering the adoption of NBS at local and regional level, as well as to propose corrective measures and strategies that enable more effective implementation. It also seeks to promote the exchange of knowledge and strengthen the involvement of all actors across the different regions, fostering a more collaborative and coherent approach to expanding the use of these sustainable solutions.
The publication represents a highly valuable scientific and technical resource for all initiatives working along the same lines of research as SOLLAGUA and striving to improve water stewardship through more resilient, cost-effective and environmentally respectful alternatives.

The role of CTA in SOLLAGUA
In SOLLAGUA, funded with €1.8 million through the Interreg SUDOE programme, CTA coordinates Working Group 3, which focuses on identifying adoption barriers and designing the replication and capacity-building plan aimed at the various stakeholders involved in the management of this essential resource.
Furthermore, due to its experience in similar initiatives, the Foundation is also responsible for the project’s communication and dissemination strategy, helping to ensure a broad and lasting impact of its results.
