CTA participates in the BATMASS consortium meeting in Grenoble to promote battery recycling in Europe
  • The European BATMASS project is moving towards the creation of the European Union's first Circular Battery Valley, a strategic initiative funded by the Interregional Innovation Investment (I3) programme to transform the battery value chain through innovative recycling and second-life solutions.

On 26 and 27 February, the BATMASS project consortium held a new face-to-face meeting in Grenoble (France), a key meeting to review the technical progress of the project, share advances among partners and coordinate the upcoming milestones that will mark the final year of implementation.

During the first day, the partners presented the overall progress of the project and assessed the status of the various industrial pilots related to battery dismantling, second-life reuse and black mass treatment. The sessions provided an opportunity to evaluate the path towards industrial implementation of the technologies developed and to plan the project’s closing activities. The day concluded with a technical visit to the VERKOR pilot line, where attendees were able to see first-hand the development of one of BATMASS’s key pilot projects.

The second day continued with sessions dedicated to market conditions for the adoption of circular solutions, replication of investments between regions and project management, as well as updating communication and dissemination activities. These discussions reinforced coordination between partners and the common vision for building a robust and sustainable European Circular Battery Valley.

Representing CTA were Juanita Zenteno, Innovation Consultant, and Marta González, Communications Technician. Through its role in the project, CTA contributes to technical monitoring, coordination between regions, and the dissemination of BATMASS progress and results at the European level.

This face-to-face meeting in Grenoble has given new impetus to cooperation within the consortium and reaffirms the commitment of all partners to the development of innovative technologies for the recycling, reconditioning and reuse of batteries in the European Union.
