PCT Cartuja grows as an urban innovation lab with twelve new projects
  • Of the 12 lines that make up the Public Procurement of Innovation project, funded by the Regional Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation of the Government of Andalusia, lines 1, 2, and 5 are currently active.
  • This initiative aims to make the Cartuja Science and Technology Park a benchmark in energy sustainability.

The Cartuja Science and Technology Park (PCT Cartuja) in Seville is making steady progress in its transformation towards a smarter, more sustainable urban model, driven by the ambitious Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) project, eCitySevilla.

This initiative is supported by the Regional Ministry of University, Research and Innovation of the Government of Andalusia and has a total budget of approximately €19.8 million (VAT included), co-funded by the ERDF Programme for Andalusia 2021–2027.

eCitySevilla forms part of a broader strategy to modernise urban environments through technology and innovation.

Roadmap to a greener, self-sufficient and low-carbon site

The project is structured into four key areas: energy, buildings, mobility and digitalisation, and includes twelve lines of action within the smart cities and territories framework.

The three currently active consultations are:

  • Line 1: Shared self-consumption service and distributed energy resources (DER)
    • Budget: €4 million
    • Deadline: until June 16
  • Line 2: Intelligent public lighting system
    • Budget: €1.5 million
    • Deadline: until June 16
  • Line 5: Autonomous electric transport pilot. New intelligent mobility system
    • Budget: €3.75 million
    • Deadline: until May 26

Innovation and collaboration for the urban future

The central purpose of this initiative is to make the Cartuja Science and Technology Park a model of energy self-sufficiency, relying on cutting-edge technologies to improve energy use and the smart management of its resources.
