CTA promotes BATMASS’s European forum on circular battery investment
  • The event, held in Brussels, brought together investors, European institutions and companies to accelerate the development of a more sustainable battery ecosystem.
  • CTA, as a partner in the European BATMASS project, has led the forum’s communication and outreach strategy, helping to broaden its reach and impact.

On 17 March, the BATMASS project held the first Circular Battery Valley (CBV) Investment Forum in Brussels, under the title ‘Accelerating investment in circular batteries for a sustainable future’. The event brought together around 70 participants, including representatives from the European Commission, regional authorities, investors and companies from the battery sector.

Held at the Lombardy Region’s Delegation to the EU, the forum served as a meeting point for key stakeholders committed to promoting a more sustainable, resilient and competitive battery value chain in Europe.

During the event, the main European funding and investment instruments for the sector were discussed, such as the I3 Instrument, the Innovation Fund and the Battery Booster initiative, as well as the growing role of private capital in the development of circular battery technologies.

In addition, the programme included high-level round-table discussions on regional policies and industrial cooperation, as well as presentation sessions featuring innovative start-ups and scale-ups specialising in battery recycling and material recovery.

The role of CTA in BATMASS

CTA plays a strategic role in the BATMASS project, combining its leadership in communication and outreach with active participation in key activities aimed at analysing and driving forward the European circular battery ecosystem.

On the one hand, CTA leads the project’s communication strategy, raising the profile of its results and events – such as this investment forum – through promotional activities, media relations and the creation of content tailored to key audiences.

In addition, CTA coordinates key technical tasks such as the analysis of the European circular battery ecosystem, which has enabled the identification of the main stakeholders, initiatives and networks in this field. This work includes the creation of a Europe-wide stakeholder database and the analysis of the main factors that drive or hinder investment in innovation in circular batteries.

At the same time, CTA is also involved in organising and facilitating the Circular Battery Valley Interregional Forum, an initiative that brings together key players from across the entire battery value chain—from research to industry and financing—with the aim of fostering new opportunities for collaboration and investment between European regions.

Thanks to this approach, CTA contributes not only to raising awareness of the project, but also to the creation of a robust interregional ecosystem that facilitates the development of innovative projects in the field of circular batteries.

Promoting the Circular Battery Valley

The forum marks a key milestone in the development of Circular Battery Valley, an initiative launched by BATMASS to create an interregional ecosystem for innovation and investment in circular batteries.

This approach aims to accelerate the commercialisation of technologies, foster collaboration between European regions and strengthen the competitiveness of the battery industry in Europe

Impact in Andalusia

CTA’s involvement in the BATMASS project strengthens Andalusia’s position in a strategic area for the energy transition: the development of a more sustainable and circular battery value chain.

Through its involvement in key tasks such as analysing the European circular battery ecosystem and facilitating interregional forums, CTA helps connect Andalusia’s innovation ecosystem with European networks for innovation, investment and industry. This approach helps bring international collaboration opportunities to businesses, technology centres and other regional stakeholders.

Furthermore, the communication and dissemination activities led by CTA raise awareness in Andalusia of emerging trends, initiatives and opportunities in the field of circular batteries, fostering knowledge transfer and access to funded European initiatives, such as the Interregional Innovation Investment (I3) programme itself, within which BATMASS is framed.

In this context, BATMASS acts as a platform to strengthen Andalusian participation in European innovation projects and promote interregional collaboration in sectors key to sustainability and industrial competitiveness.

About BATMASS

BATMASS is a European project funded by the Interregional Innovation Investment (I3) programme, which aims to transform the battery value chain through circular innovation.

The project brings together 15 partners from four European countries and promotes the creation of an interregional ecosystem that connects technology, industry, investment and public policy to move towards a more sustainable economy.
