INERH2 project (Research on Electric and Hydrogen Charging Infrastructure for Sustainable Mobility) aims to promote the creation of a cross-border research network between Spain and Portugal focused on the design, operation, and efficient management of electric and green hydrogen charging infrastructure, to support the adoption of sustainable mobility models within the cooperation area.
The goal is to address the challenges facing electric and hydrogen charging infrastructure, which are related to interoperability, insufficient coverage, and a lack of integration with renewable energy sources and the power grid.
To this end, the project will analyze the current state of existing infrastructure, identifying the main deployment scenarios and the technical and regulatory barriers that hinder interoperability, as well as integration with renewable energy sources and the power grid. Based on this analysis, planning tools will be developed to optimize the location and management of this infrastructure, together with intelligent management platforms and control algorithms designed to improve operational efficiency.
The solutions developed will be validated in real-world environments to ensure their technical and economic viability and facilitate their replication in other cross-border regions.
The INERH2 project is funded by the Interreg Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) 2021–2027 programme.
