The Director of CTA’s International Department, David Páez, attended today the opening event of CAF’s new office in Europe (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean). Located in Madrid, the new office aims to become a new hub for connecting regions and creating development opportunities for Latin America and the Caribbean.

CTA, which has also recently opened a new office in Brussels (Belgium) to strengthen its ties with Europe, is firmly committed to the multilateral market and maintains close relations with CAF, as well as with other multilateral organisations.

During the event, CAF presented the strategic priorities of its Vice-Presidency for Cooperation, Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation, with the aim of strengthening links between regions and creating new development opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event brought together Sara Aagesen, Third Deputy Prime Minister of Spain and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; Nadia Calviño, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB); and CAF’s Executive President, Sergio Díaz-Granados, and Vice-President, Alicia Montalvo. Attendees also included Nobel Peace Prize laureate Rigoberta Menchú and Manuel de la Rocha Vázquez, Director of the Economic Affairs Office of the President of the Spanish Government, as well as business leaders and ambassadors.

The opportunities offered by the multilateral market

CTA believes that the multilateral market offers innovative companies a valuable avenue for internationalising their technologies and building a track record in emerging markets.

CTA is strengthening its activity in the multilateral market with the aim of facilitating innovative companies’ access to new international opportunities and showcasing Andalusia’s technological capabilities to development banks and international organisations.

The foundation acts as a bridge between companies, research organisations, public administrations and multilateral institutions, identifying opportunities, promoting partnerships and consortia, and providing specialised advice on the design, implementation and scaling up of innovation projects.

CTA already has hands-on experience in countries including Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica and El Salvador, and has worked with institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

In addition, as part of its 2026–2029 strategy, CTA aims to strengthen its direct engagement with multilateral institutions, enhance the international positioning of its member companies and secure funding for high-impact innovative initiatives.
