CTA, through its European project BBioNets — an initiative funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union — has launched a mentoring programme aimed at gaining first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing the olive sector and supporting its stakeholders in the adoption of bio-based technologies (BBTs).
The programme targets all links in the chain: from farmers and farm managers to cooperatives, oil mills and olive oil sector technicians, as well as any agent with an interest in the circular bioeconomy. The goal is to create a working environment where innovation and the pursuit of solutions to the sector’s challenges are the common thread.
Through this initiative, BBioNets seeks to identify the main obstacles faced by olive sector professionals and foster a dialogue with specialists to drive concrete responses. To this end, it combines diagnostic and advisory tools with the exploration of synergies between organisations, while also opening the door to the creation of Operational Groups within the framework of MAPA.
The activity kicked off on 18 May with its first session, in which olive sector stakeholders brought to the table the main needs they face in their day-to-day work.
The second session will take place on 10 June, offering a practical and dynamic space for direct exchange with specialised experts. The session will also include a train the trainers component in which the platform and tool developed within the project will be presented.
The session will provide an opportunity to explore innovation pathways, models for the valorisation of by-products and collaboration frameworks to drive circular bioeconomy projects forward.
