The SOLLAGUA project (Nature-based solutions and Living Labs for rural water reuse), funded by the Interreg Sudoe program, seeks to promote innovative nature-based solutions (NBS) for water reuse in rural areas of Spain, Portugal and the south of France, traditionally marked by long periods of water stress. This new three-year European initiative is driven by a consortium of ten entities and has a budget of 1.8 million euros.

The SOLLAGUA action plan includes, among other actions, the installation of three demonstrators in selected areas of the participating countries to highlight the advantages of the SBN system. In addition, the strategy of matching the project’s objectives will make it possible to determine the ideal level of water treatment according to actual needs. The initiative will actively involve administrations, universities, companies and users in order to provide a global and sustainable response to the problem.

The multi-regional consortium promoted by SOLLAGUA will ensure the creation of a technological and business network that will enable the dissemination of the practices adopted. Similarly, the potential of the application of the SBN system for mitigating the effects of the environmental crisis will be exploited.
