CTA has coordinated the organization of a training workshop in Brussels, within the framework of the EuRCBC Conference (European Rural Circular Bioeconomy Conference), with the aim of showcasing the developed methodology, as well as explaining the achievements and lessons learned within the framework of the European ROBIN project, related to the development of governance structures and models for the Circular Bioeconomy at the regional level.

The event, which brought together dozens of participants from across Europe both in person and online, featured contributions from 10 ROBIN project partners in a “train-the-trainer” workshop format under the title “Scaling the Bioeconomy through ROBIN’s Toolbox, Policies, and Strategies.”

Led by María García, Innovation Consultant at CTA, the workshop explained the key elements of the ROBIN project, a replication guide of the achievements obtained, with five detailed steps to reproduce some of the tested measures, and an explanation of the experience of each of the five pilot regions used in the project: Andalusia, Baden-Württemberg (Germany), Central Macedonia (Greece), Southern Region (Ireland), and Zilina (Slovakia).

The Andalusian partners of the ROBIN project are the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development (CAPADR) of the Andalusian Regional Government, the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production Research and Training (IFAPA), and CTA (Technological Corporation of Andalusia).

Summit of six European Bioeconomy projects

The EuRCBC Conference (European Rural Circular Bioeconomy Conference) brought together over two days, in person in Brussels and online, dozens of experts from across Europe to advance the implementation of the Bioeconomy in favor of a more sustainable and resilient future.

The EuRCBC Conference was jointly organized by 6 EU-funded projects, two of which count CTA as a partner: ROBIN and SCALE-UP. Both held their final event at this gathering. The other projects that participated in the event were MainstreamBIO, RuralBioUp, BioRural, and Biomodel4Regions.

ROBIN, a project to accelerate the green transition

The European ROBIN project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, has promoted innovative governance models in circular bioeconomy to help regional administrations accelerate the green transition. Andalusia is one of the five EU pilot regions using the ROBIN project to promote these new innovative governance models that help boost the circular bioeconomy.

Led by the Greek partner Q-PLAN, the ROBIN project’s full title is “Deploying Circular Bioeconomies at the Regional Level with a Territorial Approach,” and it aims to help European regional authorities use social innovation techniques and shape their governance structures to drive the circular bioeconomy forward.

Andalusia has a clear commitment to the circular bioeconomy, being one of the first European regions to adopt a circular bioeconomy governance model, specifically the Andalusian Circular Bioeconomy Strategy (EABC). Likewise, the Andalusian Circular Economy Law (LECA) establishes the necessary mechanisms for implementing policies and regulations related to circular economy and bioeconomy.
