The european project AIHRE, funded by the Interreg POCTEP programme, held its closing event in Valladolid, at CIDAUT’s headquarters, the initiative’s coordinating body. The meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of the main results achieved after three years of joint work and to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the renewable hydrogen value chain in the cross-border area between Spain and Portugal. The programme took place over two days.

The first day was devoted to the consortium’s final meeting, where the nine partners reviewed the status of the final deliverables and addressed the technical and administrative requirements needed to complete the project’s official closure.
The second day featured the open event, “Innovation and Cooperation for Renewable Hydrogen“, where AIHRE’s main achievements were presented to representatives of companies, technology centres, public authorities, clusters, universities and other key players in the renewable hydrogen ecosystem.
One of the key highlights was the launch of the AIHRE Sizing Platform. This tool is intended to carry out a preliminary assessment of the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of renewable hydrogen-based projects. It supports decision-making in the early stages of development by enabling the analysis of different technological configurations and business models, thereby facilitating the planning of future initiatives.
The event also included a review of the various technical publications produced as part of the project, as well as the progress made by the AIHRE Ecosystem, another of the initiative’s key milestones.
The event concluded with a round table on the future of renewable hydrogen in the POCTEP region, with the participation of Javier Robador (H2CYL), Joaquín Villar (Andalusian Energy Agency), Brais Armiño (DigHy) and Francisco Machado (INEGI). During the discussion, the speakers shared their views on the main challenges and opportunities for establishing a competitive cross-border ecosystem centred on this technology.
CTA was represented by Germán López, Senior Energy Innovation Consultant, and Manuel Silva, Communications Officer.
