CTA coordinates a new S3 AMBP meeting in Brussels to boost the European battery industry
  • The partnership promotes innovation in strategic materials to strengthen the European battery industry for electromobility and stationary energy storage applications.
  • CTA, together with the Lombardy Region, leads a network comprising more than 30 public and private organisations from different European countries.

Several organisations belonging to the European Advanced Materials for Batteries Partnership (S3 AMBP) gathered in Brussels to hold the third coordination meeting since CTA and the Lombardy Region assumed the joint leadership of this European transnational network.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, one of the partner organisations, and served to further advance the common strategy of this initiative, focused on promoting advanced materials as a key enabling technology for European industrial policy.

During the meeting, partners reviewed the current status of the partnership, which is made up of more than 30 members, addressing aspects related to governance, working groups, role distribution and the mapping of European Union-funded projects linked to the battery ecosystem, such as BATMASS and IRMHUB.

In addition, potential synergies and alignments with other European research initiatives were analysed, as well as new ways to incorporate strategic stakeholders into the network and strengthen its positioning. The meeting also featured the participation of Fabian Schmidt, representative of one of the agencies responsible for managing the S3 Community of Practice (S3 CoP), the European framework under which the S3 AMBP partnership operates.

The meeting concluded with a workshop devoted to defining upcoming lines of action and exploring future collaborative project ideas, identifying potential leading entities to drive their development.

Representing CTA were Rafa Castillo, Senior European Projects Manager; Nacho Cobos, Innovation Consultant; and Manuel Silva, Communication Officer.
