The European project ZeroW(Systemic Innovations Towards a Zero Food Waste Supply Chain) aims to contribute to reducing food waste through the application of systemic innovations in ‘living labs’, i.e. experimental environments for co-creating innovation.

ZeroW is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 program through the European Green Deal call.
European Green Deal
has a budget of €12M and involves 46 partners from 17 European countries.

CTA activity

CTA leads the Andalusian 'living lab', which will aim to assess the shelf life and retail compliance of fruits and vegetables, at an early stage, using non-destructive analysis and multi-attribute classification techniques. This is intended to reduce food waste at the producer and retailer levels.

It will also seek to ensure quality products with a known shelf life for the retailer, provide market strategies for 'imperfect' fruits and vegetables and optimize logistics management.
